A huge congratulations to Franklin Ventura who was awarded top honors from the New York Road Runners when they selected him as the Runner of the Year! Franklin  was selected based on his outstanding performances in races throughout the year, his continuous improvement since joining the NYRR, and his role as a leader on the team.

As NYRR Runner of the Year Franklin will serve as an ambassador for the running community. He will be honored at NYRR’s exclusive Club Night on March 3!

Great Job Franklin!

Attention all High School Track Runners:

We have tickets to the Millrose Games in Madison Square Garden for tomorrow Friday January 28th 2011. However, due to the SNOW DAY I was not able to pass out the permission slips.

We will be meeting in front of WHEELS at 5:00pm and return around 10:45pm.

This is an amazing opportunity to watch PROFESSIONAL and amateur runners (including Olympic Runners). Tickets normally cost $20+, but were generously donated to us by New York Road Runners. Check out the meet’s website
http://www.millrose-games.com/

Please show this to you parents/ guardians and have them call or email me with any questions or concerns. I will hand out permission slips tomorrow at school and will happily speak with any parents should need arise.

Thanks and see you tomorrow!

The following students had top finishes.

  • In the 55 meter hurdles, Dionis Jimenez came in 1st, and Chris Aquino placed 2nd.
  • In shot put, Alvin Valdez placed 2nd, and Steven Menezes placed 3rd. Estefania Garcia came in 1st place in girls’ shot put.
